Juice™ Photo Lithium Batteries

How do Juice™ Rechargeable Photo Lithium batteries compare with the performance of non-rechargeable Photo Lithium batteries?
Juice™ Rechargeable Photo Lithium batteries have approximately 1/3 to 1/2 the capacity of a non-rechargeable Photo Lithium batteries, however, they can be recharged up to 300 times, which means the cumulative capacity is far greater than a single use.

Do Rechargeable Photo Lithium Batteries need to be charged prior to first use?
Yes, Rechargeable Photo Lithium Batteries are not fully charged upon purchase and need to be charged prior to first use.

How long does it take to charge Juice™ Rechargeable Photo Lithium Batteries?
Juice™ Rechargeable Photo Lithium batteries need to be charged for approximately 12 hours prior to first use to allow for a conditioning cycle. Subsequent recharges will take approximately 2 to 3 hours depending on depth of discharge.

Do Juice™ Rechargeable Batteries suffer memory and do they need to be drained prior to charging?
No, rechargeable photo lithium batteries do not suffer memory problems and can be fully charged or topped-up at any time.

How long does it take to charge using the 12VDC adaptor?
The batteries charge equally as fast with the 12VDC adaptor (2 to 3 hours) as they do with the standard household current.

Can I use Juice™ Rechargeable Alkaline batteries in the same devices I currently use regular Alkaline?
Yes, Juice™ Rechargeable Alkaline batteries are principally the same as regular single-use Alkaline, except they have proprietary ingredients that allow them to be charged over and over again.

How often can Juice™ Rechargeable Alkaline batteries be recharged?
That all depends on depth of discharge. Juice™ Rechargeable Alkaline batteries work best in medium and low drain applications and when they are recharged frequently - in other words, before the energy is completely depleted. When used in this manner, you can achieve up to 100 recharges and sometimes more. Up to 60 recharges can be achieved when used in higher drain application.

Do Juice™ Rechargeable Alkaline and NiMH batteries need to be charged before first use?
Juice™ Rechargeable Alkaline batteries are ready to use right out of the pack. However, NiMH batteries are not fully charged upon purchase and therefore need to be charged before first time use.

When should I use Juice™ Rechargeable Alkaline versus Juice™ NiMH?
Juice™ Rechargeable Alkaline perform best in medium and low-drain devices such as portable radios, CD players, handheld electronic games, flashlights and remote controls because they provide sufficient energy to power these and many more devices, they retain their charge while not in use and provide an economical and environmental solution. Juice™ NiMH batteries perform best in high-drain applications such as digital cameras, portable LCD TV's and video cameras because of the higher energy density required to operate these power hungry devices. However, due to their material content and chemistry composition, NiMH lose their charge when not in use (especially in hot climate conditions) and are typically more expensive.

How long will my Juice™ Rechargeable and NiMH batteries hold their charge when not in use?
Most batteries experience self-discharge when not in use. Fully charged Rechargeable Alkaline batteries will hold a charge for approximately 5 to 7 years while NiMH should be charged every 1 or 2 months when not in use.

Can I charge both Rechargeable Alkaline and NiMH batteries at the same time in the Juice™ Multi-Charger?
Yes, the Juice™ Multi-Charger is designed with a proprietary "Smart Chip" capable of determining the type of battery chemistry placed in the charger and charges it to right level maximizing its capacity. Whether it's a Rechargeable Alkaline, NiMH or even a NiCad, the Juice™ Multi-Charger monitors each battery independently to ensure safe, proper charging for long life and best performance.

What happens if a single use Alkaline or a Lithium battery is inserted in the Juice™ Multi-Charger?
The "Smart Chip" in the Juice™ Multi-Charger measures the internal resistance of each battery and determines if it safe to charge. In cases where a single-use Alkaline or Lithium battery is inadvertently placed in the charger, the "Smart Chip" recognizes the battery chemistry and does not allow charging to commence.

Do Juice™ rechargeable batteries suffer memory and do they have to be fully drained prior to charging?
No, Juice™ rechargeable batteries do not suffer memory problems normally associated with NiCad batteries and they can be recharged at any time without draining the battery. In fact, Juice™ Rechargeable Alkaline batteries work best when they are recharged frequently.

Is it normal for batteries to get hot while charging?
Yes, this is a normal occurrence. Juice™ batteries will get warm during charge due to the transfer of energy, however, they will quickly cool down as soon as the batteries are removed from the charger. The Juice™ Multi-Charger has a built-in safety sensor that shuts down the unit if it gets too hot.

Can I leave my batteries in the charger after they have been charged?
Although it is recommended practice that batteries be removed from the charger upon reaching full charge, they can be left in the charger as a trickle charge will keep them topped-up and ready to use.
